우리가 서로 반대된다고 생각하는 것들은 과연 반대일까? 자동차 소리는 풀벌레 소리의 반대인가? 댄스음악은 발라드음악의 반대인가? 차가움은 뜨거움의 반대인가? 남성성은 여성성의 반대인가? 노인은 아기의 반대인가? 선은 악의 반대인가? 그들을 가만히 들여다보면 그 경계가 흐릿함을 느끼게 된다. 스펙트럼 속에서 상호작용하며 공존하는 성질. 무엇 하나 그만의 고유한 성질을 지니지 않은 물질. 빛의 파장을 구태여 나누어 명명하고, 식물과 동물을 구분 짓는 우리의 생각의 흐름이 당연하게 자리 잡은 시대. 그 모호한 기준에 대해 이야기 나누고자 한다.
Are the things considered opposites truly opposite? Is the sound of a car the opposite of the sound of a grasshopper? Is dance music the opposite of ballad music? Is coldness the opposite of heat? Is masculinity the opposite of femininity? Is an elderly person the opposite of a baby? Is good the opposite of evil? If one looks at them closely, their boundaries feel blurred. Qualities that interact and coexist within a spectrum. No single material possesses its own unique quality. An era where the way of thinking, categorizing the wavelengths of light and distinguishing plants from animals, has become taken for granted. Let us engage in a conversation about these ambiguous standards.
