우리가 서로 반대된다고 생각하는 것들은 과연 반대일까? 자동차 소리는 풀벌레 소리의 반대인가? 댄스음악은 발라드음악의 반대인가? 차가움은 뜨거움의 반대인가? 남성성은 여성성의 반대인가? 노인은 아기의 반대인가? 선은 악의 반대인가? 그들을 가만히 들여다보면 그 경계가 흐릿함을 느끼게 된다. 스펙트럼 속에서 상호작용하며 공존하는 성질. 무엇 하나 그만의 고유한 성질을 지니지 않은 물질. 빛의 파장을 구태여 나누어 명명하고, 식물과 동물을 구분 짓는 우리의 생각의 흐름이 당연하게 자리 잡은 시대. 그 모호한 기준에 대해 이야기 나누고자 한다.
Do things that we think are opposites are actually opposite. Is the sound of cars the opposite of the sound of bugs? Is dance music the opposite of ballads? Is cold the opposite of hot? Is masculinity the opposite of femininity? Is the old man the opposite of the baby? Is good the opposite of evil? If you look closely at the above things, you may notice that their boundaries are blurred. This can indicate that opposite properties interact and coexist in one spectrum. This could mean that none of them may have their own characteristics. We live in a world where we forcibly divide the wavelengths of light and draw boundaries between plants and animals. I’d like to talk about that vague standard through this piece.
